Battersea Area Guide

Located in south London and extending along the bank of the River Thames, Battersea is possibly most renowned for the dominating structure of Battersea Power Station.

Historically the power station, which began construction in 1929 was a prominent signal of Industrial growth in London. It re-entered the populations mind, when it became a pop culture reference as the back drop of Pink Floyd’s highly accredited album ‘Animals’, which included the commission of helium filled pig to fly over the station in 1977.

Grade II listed, Battersea Power Station has recently undergone a multi-million pound regeneration project which extends far beyond the station itself.  Boasting a selection of swanky stores, restaurants, viewing decks, playgrounds and calming green spaces, it’s become its own neighbourhood.

For avid walkers and fitness freaks, Battersea Park offers acres of green space with cafe’s, crazy golf, Go Ape!, a zoo, tennis courts and a lot more!

With the rise of re-using items to help the environment, vintage is the new 'new'. For those who fancy a rummage in hope of scoring a bargain, the Sunday afternoon car boot sale in Battersea is a treasure chest of value-for-money goods.
